Utilizing Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), Remote Radio Heads (RRH), Small Cells, Wi-Fi and Distributed Core Soft-switching technologies, ExteNet enables Wireless Service Providers (WSPs), enterprises and venues to better serve their subscribers, customers, workers, residents, tenants and communities.
ExteNet owns and operates multi-carrier, often referred to as “neutral-host”, and multi-technology Distributed Networks to ensure multiple WSPs can provide their 3G and 4G LTE services in the most effective and efficient manner. ExteNet creates a scalable network design utilizing its high-bandwidth fiber network to ensure the Network Densification needs of the WSPs are met and can evolve over time as user demands dictate.
Today’s mobile network traffic has become highly personalized, driven by the increase in Broadband connectivity. Personalization alludes to the Unicast nature of network traffic patterns – people viewing their preferred content anytime, anywhere, over any device. These evolving traffic patterns are best served with the provision of a high capacity and scalable Distributed Network.
The number of mobile devices exceeds the number of people today as more users interact with multiple device types. In addition, Machine-to-Machine (M2M) applications are proliferating. Unicast traffic patterns, mobile device growth and M2M proliferation are all leading to a severe strain on the WSPs’ networks which were initially designed primarily for voice coverage and have more recently been adapting to data coverage.
Macro cellular networks were never intended or designed to handle highly intensified and data-oriented mobile traffic that is necessary to support video and other broadband applications. The need for Network Densification is a direct result of these changing User needs and demands.
ExteNet has years of experience deploying Distributed Networks. As a registered telecommunications carrier registered in every state in which we do business, ExteNet has the status of a utility and is generally entitled to place its facilities in the Public Rights-of-Way and to attach its equipment to existing utility infrastructure such as utility poles as an efficient and environmentally responsible means for enhancing coverage and capacity via outdoor Distributed Networks. In addition, over the years, ExteNet has negotiated agreements with a number of local governments for the use of municipally owned light poles and conduits for the enablement of Outdoor Distributed Networks.
ExteNet also negotiates multi-year agreements with Venue owners and managers in key strategic markets and verticals such as Sports & Entertainment, Hospitality, Healthcare and Commercial Real Estate to ensure mobile network coverage and enhanced capacity throughout a portfolio of these strategic venues.
