Did you have a favorite teacher? One who positively impacted you during your most formative years, instilled confidence in a moment of uncertainty, or ignited a passion that shaped your personal or professional trajectory?

Teachers, in my opinion, are often overworked and underpaid. Some come out of pocket for supplies to provide the best possible experience for their students. Yet, we rely on them to educate and guide our future generations.

My sister, Shannon, is a teacher at a Charlotte-Mecklenburg elementary school and my inspiration for partnering with Classroom Central for a recent Women’s Wireless Leadership Forum (WWLF) event. I’ve watched in awe as she poured her heart and soul into teaching day in and day out for nearly a decade. Shannon has been a direct beneficiary of Classroom Central’s services.

Classroom Central fosters equity in education by providing teachers and students with the free resources they need to succeed. It serves teachers and students in nearly 200 schools across six regional school districts. It distributes supplies through its Free Store, Mobile Free Store, Curbside Pick-Up, Subscription Service and several other community-supported initiatives. Since opening its doors in 2002, Classroom Central has distributed over $74 million worth of free school supplies.

On Tuesday, June 27, WWLF and the telecom community in Charlotte came together for a school supply drive that doubled as a networking event and I was humbled by the turnout and donations. I cannot sufficiently express my gratitude to those who came to show their support.

A special thanks to sponsors Inside Towers, a media outlet for the wireless infrastructure industry; Pointivo, a software provider bringing AI-driven automation and digital analysis to a variety of verticals, including telecom; and Tower Engineering Professionals, an international telecom engineering firm that provides turnkey construction and engineering services – who made this all possible.

If you’re interested in donating to Classroom Central, visit here. Whether you donate $35 to fill one student’s backpack to start the school year, or donate $500 which sponsors a free shopping spree for one teacher, every penny counts.

WWLF is a volunteer association for professional women in the wireless communications industry. Through WWLF’s events, members share their expertise, broaden their contacts, and advance their career opportunities. To get involved with WWLF visit here.
