Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry and T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS) announced the completion of a $290 million 5G network investment on Thursday. According to T-Mobile, the upgrade was implemented across the state, with $50 million focused in the Greater New Orleans region.

“T-Mobile’s investment in our state’s infrastructure will pay dividends for years to come,” said Gov. Landry.

The carrier’s three-year project to upgrade its network has brought improved Ultra Capacity 5G connectivity to over 1.7 million residents, including those in urban areas, small towns, and rural communities. T-Mobile has added more than 300 new cell sites and nearly 1,870 upgrades to existing ones state-wide.

T-Mobile’s 600 MHz low-band Extended Range 5G service runs along 99 percent of Louisiana’s interstate highways, U.S. highways, and state routes. Additionally, 92 percent of the state’s residents now have access to Ultra Capacity 5G that runs on the company’s 2.5 GHz mid-band spectrum.
